I pointed out that non-profits are in it for the profits over 5 years ago and now 5 years later the Republicans are finally listening. It is time for CA to vote Republicans and eliminate sanctuary city policies so that we tax payers are not subsidizing fraud. Socialism only works for people who chose not to work.

Homeless people from all over the country flock here like pigeons for free needles and while they are here....they will request frēe housing and frēe food at tax payer expense. Just ask any of them if they want a job and they say "no thank you...are you out of your mind?"

Even these minority rights have come under pressure in recent years as the authorities have taken an increasingly assimilationist turn. Notably, no such standing is given to regional varieties of Chinese.

Last but certainly not least, we finished up our meal with the salted egg custard buns (three for $6.95). I cannot recommend these enough. Soft and sweet steamed dough surrounding a salty, creamy, sweet molten custard? Sign me up. Biting into the pillowy exterior to find the runny, golden filling was a delightful experience, and we enjoyed the textural fun of such an airy dough with the pleasant grittiness of the custard. These can drip if not careful, and it would be a shame to waste any of the liquid gold within.

This short video-documentary was created in hopes to represent a diversity of voices of Chinatown. Having interviewed a variety of business owners, our team came to some mixed conclusions. As the neighbourhood has become more polished, more people came to the local stores and restaurants. Yet, those developments also drove up the rent, pushing out many businesses which have existed in the area for decades.

It is problematic when a neighbourhood is swept away by the commercialism with little consideration of its effects on the locals and the preservation of history and culture. If Vancouver is to keep its title of being a multicultural city, preservation of its cultural heritage should be prioritized. We should be able to see economic development, which does not displace the most vulnerable populations. Multiculturalism is more than the abundance of culturally diverse cuisines, being a multicultural city requires the inclusion and equal support to all its inhabitants.
